June 2026 Update

OPPD is preparing to move another huge piece of equipment, a backup step-up transformer (GSU) to Cass County Station (CCS) the morning of June 24. It's expected to arrive at the plant by 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. that day.

This GSU is 33-feet by long 12-feet wide by 13.5-feet high – roughly the size of a motorhome, but at 363,000 pounds, it weighs about 12 times more. Because of its size, OPPD has enlisted help from a specialized moving team to transport the GSU from an undisclosed location in Lincoln to the plant. We cannot disclose the exact route for security reasons.

These plans are based on the best information we have at the time of posting; however, it’s important to note that due to the complexity of heavy haul moves such as this, timing is subject to change.

This is the second GSU of five headed to CCS.
