We recognize that there’s more to our own carbon footprint than the power we generate for our customers. That’s why our Pathways to Decarbonization study includes a focus on OPPD's internal operations, including our operations centers, transmission and distribution services, and service fleets.OPPD Truck

The first steps on an actionable pathway is to understand our impacts by compiling a greenhouse gas inventory. Think of it as tracking expenses in a bank account, except instead of tracking how money is spent, we’ll understand where and how much carbon is emitted on an annual basis. Though we’ve measured greenhouse gas emissions associated with our power generation facilities for decades, the goal of this project is to start measuring emissions from our buildings, vehicles, and other business activities for a corporate inventory.

We’re using best practices and standards defined by the World Resources Institute Greenhouse Gas Protocol to track, measure and report greenhouse gas emissions from our internal operations year-after-year. Our greenhouse gas inventory will provide insight to our opportunities to make progress towards our goal of net-zero carbon by 2050.
