July 31 Update – Segment 3

Construction continues to progress along Segment 3 of the North Douglas County Transmission Project. Crews are preparing the transmission corridor, which includes the removal of the old transmission structures and wires. As part of this work, there will be overnight traffic impacts on and near Interstate 680 during two periods in early August as crews remove overhead electric transmission lines at multiple roadway crossings.

To reduce impacts on daytime traffic, all work will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Construction activities will require temporary lane closures, brief traffic stoppages and occasional ramp closures to provide a safe work area for crews removing the transmission lines. Signed detours will be in place when necessary to safely route traffic around active work areas.

Construction Schedule*

August 2–3

  • Interstate 680

  • Fort Street

  • Sprague Street

August 5-7 and 9-10

  • Interstate 680

  • Maple Street (Nebraska Highway 64)

When detours are necessary, motorists may be directed to alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted traffic control devices and directions from law enforcement and traffic control workers, and reduce speeds when traveling through work zones.

OPPD appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as crews complete this important infrastructure improvement.

*Please note, timing is subject to change based on weather or construction conditions.
