June 2026 Update - Segment 2

OPPD is relocating distribution lines along Segment 2 of the North Douglas County Transmission Project. This work is expected to continue through the end of October.

Distribution lines are smaller than the large transmission lines, which will be replaced later. Most of this work will consist of moving existing above-ground distribution lines underground and reconfiguring the equipment on existing above-ground pole structures.

This work is necessary to move forward with our larger transmission line rebuild project and will improve the resilience and reliability of the electrical grid in the areas where the work is taking place. OPPD's right-of-way agents will reach out to directly impacted property owners with more detailed dates and times for construction at individual properties.

When relocation of distribution lines in the area begins, you may see crews drilling and boring routes along property boundaries, installing new pad-mounted electrical equipment, and altering the configuration of existing above-ground distribution poles. Our contractors may use trucks, drills, boring rigs, excavators, loaders and lifting equipment to install the new lines.

Upon completion in October, OPPD and our contractors will perform cleanup, some property restoration and energize the lines. Please note that OPPD and its contractors may need to maintain access to directly impacted properties until the separate transmission line replacement portion of the project is fully completed in May 2027.
