March 2026 Update: Segment 3
OPPD is finishing the tree removal process and will soon begin the distribution line relocation phase of Segment 3 of the North Douglas County Transmission Project. We anticipate beginning the relocation of distribution lines in early March and finishing in April. Note that these are smaller than the large transmission lines which will be replaced later. Most of this work will consist of placing existing above-ground distribution lines underground and reconfiguring the equipment on existing above-ground pole structures.
This work is necessary to move forward with our larger transmission line upgrade project and will improve the resilience and reliability of the electrical grid in the areas where the work is taking place. OPPD's right-of-way agents will reach out to directly impacted property owners with more detailed dates and times when construction will be happening at individual properties.
When installation of the new underground distribution lines begins, you may see crews drilling and boring routes along property boundaries, installing new pad-mounted electrical equipment, and altering the configuration of existing above-ground distribution poles. Our contractors may use trucks, drills, boring rigs, excavators, loaders and lifting equipment to install the new lines.
Contractors that you may see working with OPPD include:

We anticipate the distribution line portion of construction in the area to be completed by the end of April 2026. Upon completion, OPPD and our contractors will perform cleanup, some property restoration and energize the line. Please note that OPPD and its contractors may need to maintain access to directly impacted properties until the separate transmission line replacement portion of the project is fully completed later in 2026.
