How much power may the SOLUS project generate?
While it is not yet known how much power such a facility may generate, the area under consideration is relatively small, encompassing 160-acres, in comparison to the 500 acres currently under development for the 81-megawatt Platteview Solar project in Saunders County.
Has OPPD put solar on a landfill before?
This is OPPD’s first utility-scale solar project on a capped landfill, so SOLUS opens the door to future landfill solar projects across the district’s 13-county service territory.
As with any firsts, there will be many lessons learned. OPPD is committed to evaluating the results from this project by sharing information, lessons learned, and best practices with other municipalities and utilities.
