Thank you for your question! OPPD does not offer electrical safety presentations for elementary aged students. However, OPPD’s Education Corner provides resources for customers, teachers and students. Please take a moment to review the Education Corner and electric safety information.
In addition, OPPD’s Speakers Bureau offers virtual presentations to businesses, organization and schools (5th grade & above). Speakers are available for the following topics to both educate and inform:
- Careers – Transform your future by exploring energy careers at OPPD
- Electricity 101 – Interactive presentation on how electricity is produced
- Energy Efficiency – Receive tips and tools for saving energy and managing your energy budget

Share I am originally from Omaha and have always loved walking and visiting the OPPD arboretum and actually had professional photos taken there in the past. Last week I was traveling through Omaha on my way back to Pennsylvania and I made a stop to visit the wonderful park again since it has been a few years since I was there last. I noticed a couple things that I would like to bring to your attention. There were a few trees dying that had tags on them that I am assuming meant that they are being removed. One of the trees is a dedication tree that is at the parking lot/entrance....I am hoping that this one is being replaced and not just removed. Also as I was walking around I noticed that there was no plaque/tree honoring David Walsh whom I understand had a strong influence on the implementation and maintenance of the arboretum. I feel that this park is still a beautiful place with wonderful information for the public and I would hate to see it deteriorate. Thank you!! We at OPPD are glad you had the opportunity to stop and visit the OPPD Arboretum during your travels. OPPD is proud of this facility and has undertaken some new strategies in maintaining it. There are a number of trees which are slated for removal as they have died. We have also sprayed approximately 15 evergreen trees for bagworm just a few weeks ago. These trees were marked with a red ribbon for the contractor to identify which specific trees were to be treated. One of the trees which was treated was one which you had to referred to. This tree was planted to honor Jerry Hakenholz upon his retirement for the foresight he had in implementing and developing this Arboretum as a resource for OPPD to use in educating the public. While this tree is looking a little thin in the crown, we are not planning on removing it at this time. We believe that it may recover and grow. If it should die we would certainly replace this tree with the same type of tree.
In your inquiry you had also referred to David Walsh as well. David, who retired a few years ago, was a valued employee for many years with OPPD. One of his responsibilities was the daily maintenance of the Arboretum. His vision for, and devotion to the Arboretum did contribute to its success and helped to make it the treasure to the community that it is today. At this time there are no plans to place a placard adjacent to any trees for David’s contributions as an employee of OPPD.

The streetlight outage reporting map always opens in a location just northwest of Topeka KS, well outside of OPPD's service area. I have no other mapping apps that behave this way. Also, there is no way (user interface mechanism) to relocate the map to my present position, as most other map related apps provide.
